Christine Longnecker and Epp Portrait

Christine developed a passion for horses at a young age, and when she was finally able to convince her parents to invest in riding lessons at the age of 8, she put one foot in the stirrup and never looked back. A graduate of the United States Pony Club with a traditional C3 rating and a passion for Eventing, Christine has been in the horse community for 20 years, and over 10 of those years have been spent teaching riding lessons and training horses professionally. Christine believes in an energy based, “ground-up” approach to training for both clients and horses. She believes this helps promote healthy, lasting relationships between people and their equine partners. By understanding individual needs and the energy surrounding situations, Christine is able to provide the tools necessary for each person and horse to grow and thrive through a positive learning environment.

Whether the client has the goal of simply enjoying horses or wants to compete at the upper levels, Christine is able to help each client reach his/her full potential.  Horses have so much to offer; let Christine guide you on this amazing journey!

What Clients Say

Ever since I was a young girl I wanted to ride horses. My circumstances didn’t allow this but when I reached adulthood I decided to act on my dream and take riding lessons. Christine has been the perfect instructor because she has allowed me to go at my own pace and be fully comfortable before learning new things. She has to deal with someone who may be afraid, not athletic, and older but she always has patience, a smile and reassurance. She exudes her love of horses and makes it a calm and enjoyable lesson week after week. She is a very personable, fun and smart young woman. She has a bright future and I would recommend her to anyone who ever wanted to try their hand at riding and learning about one of the most beautiful animals, horses.

Christine is a great young equestrian professional. Myself and my 7 year old daughter have taken riding lessons with her. I have watched her compete for years in the hunter ring, dressage, jumpers and eventing. I have even been lucky enough to ride a few of the horses she has trained. Her approach is both consistent and appropriate through all equestrian components: riding, instructing and training horses directly. You won’t be disappointed with her!
Molly Ann Buhl
I’ve taken riding lessons from Christine for almost two years. In that time, she has taught me so much, from the basic care of horses to different riding techniques. Christine is a great instructor and an even better person, she is always positive and encouraging in the feedback she gives. I’ve been in two riding competitions and Christine helped me the entire time. I would encourage and recommend her to be your riding instructor, you won’t be disappointed.

Christine has always been positive during lessons and makes them all really fun! She’s always in a good mood and is a great instructor. I’ve learned so much from her over the past couple years and I would definitely recommend her!

I’ve known Christine for a long time. Recently I purchased a green hunter with a few quirks. I began working with Christine, taking lessons and also watching her training rides. She’s remarkably good at putting a horse to work and getting it to enjoy its job. Eddie, my horse, has become more balanced and responsive, quickly gaining experience with the fundamentals. Christine has taught both of us the basics of how to do our flat work effectively, not only training Eddie but teaching me things I never learned in my career as a Child-Adult hunter.
Maia Edwards-Borowicz
Christine works with both horse and rider by focusing her approach on improving my ability to communicate with my horse, allowing him to receive the aides he needs to develop. This consistent and encouraging approach has been great for my development as a rider and for the training and development of my “off the track thoroughbred” gelding. This has been my first experience with an OTTB and Christine has been an invaluable resource.
Adam Reese
I like Christine because she is a good trainer and she taught me how to canter like a champion. But the real champion is Christine. She is a great trainer and she is really good with horses. She practically lives at the barn. She loves working at the barn. I think if she had a hobby it would be teaching kids who have dreams to be a horse champion. She loves the horses and cares for them. She also loves them like her children.
LuLu Semple
My daughter and I started riding together several years ago and have been receiving instruction from Christine for about 2 years. I have seen a tremendous change in LuLu since this time…more focused, self-confident and truly looks forward to her time at the barn! From the first lesson, I was impressed by the manner in which Christine instructs. She stresses the importance of the greater picture including the horse itself, its care and responsibility required to be an equestrian. LuLu has learned not only how to ride a horse, but how to care for and respect it. I am proud to say that at the age of 7, she is achieving her goals and always challenging herself in the safe and capable hands of Christine. I have been lucky enough to find some time to take a few lessons myself or just a simple trail ride after a long day. It is obvious that Christine finds herself at ease in her environment and loves what she does. We are blessed to have her in our lives.

I feel my daughter is safe, in good hands, and learning every moment she is with Christine. Christine is very passionate about horses. Christine has gently nudged my daughter, her riding and horsemanship skills, and her green horse forward, allowing Sierra to discover her own rider/horse partnership – all the while gaining personal confidence. I also appreciate that Christine’s history includes national and international riding instructors. She earned a traditional C3 rating with Pony Club and continues to challenge herself with clinics, deepening her own riding abilities and skills. Christine teaches, laughs with, and supports my daughter. She challenges her to learn and know more, understand her short comings, build on her strengths, and encourages her to stretch out of her comfort zone.

Christine is a great instructor! She explains information really well, is fun to be around, and I like the way she works with horses and riders to bring out the best in both. Also, she helped my green horse, Snickers, learn how to canter on his left lead, which is a huge accomplishment for him!
